We encourage sponsors and the child being sponsored to communicate with each other, though we do not allow direct communication for the first six months, as a general rule. The reason for this is mainly the security and confidentiality of the child and also for you, the sponsor.
Families here can get rather needy, so we do not allow new families to contact their sponsor directly until they can understand better the culture of Kairos.
Still, children will write to their sponsors at least once a month, and sponsors may write to their child (and the family) whenever the want to.
Sponsors may also give gifts, but these gifts should also be course through the Kairos staff.
If children do ask for something special, or the family asks for help, the sponsor may want to give, but it is always best to ask the advice of Kairos before doing so.
